The Pearl of Africa's Crown
Uganda
Oh Uganda! may God uphold thee,
We lay our future in thy hand.
United, free,
For liberty
Together we'll always stand.
Oh Uganda! the land of freedom.
Our love and labour we give,
And with neighbours all
At our country's call
In peace and friendship we'll live.
Oh Uganda! the land that feeds us
By sun and fertile soil grown.
For our own dear land,
We'll always stand:
The Pearl of Africa's Crown.
Ugandan National Anthem
Okay so I was actually considering using the song "Africa" by Toto. I figured it would be okay because we heard it when we were at the beach at Lake Victoria, but quite frankly it is an awful song. I know that I like some songs that could be considered "guilty pleasures" that are bad songs, so I don't feel bad in calling out Toto for such a terrible song. It's okay to like it, just admit that it is terrible. Also, Toto is a stupid name for a band.
Anyway, besides bashing on Toto, I am working on getting the pictures from our trip to Uganda on to the computer, touched up and printed, and made into a slide show for Theo's birthday party. It's going to be a bit of work. To start with here is a picture I took of a globe at our friends' wedding. Uganda is right there in the middle. Here's a little bit closer view to wet your whistle.
