What a wonderful world this could be

Don't know much about history
Don't know much biology
Don't know much about a science book
Don't know much about the french I took
But I do know that I love you
And I know that if you love me too
What a wonderful world this would be

Sam Cooke: A Wonderful World

Today was a long one. But it's over. So I'm going to my happy place. Donuts and Sam Cooke.

Instead of a cake I asked for donuts for my birthday (it was in February). We had a plethora of flavors and fillings (and yes El Guapo I do know what a plethora means). It was all kinds of delicious and the frosting on them was tasty instead of the overly sweet stuff that's on birthday cakes and always taste like diabetes.

And yes, that is bacon sprinkled on the maple bar.

To call for hands of above to lean on

One night to be confused
One night to speed up truth
We had a promise made
Four hands and then away
Both under influence
We had divine sense
To know what to say
Mind is a razorblade

To call for hands of above to lean on
Wouldn't be good enough for me, no

The Knife: Heartbeats

We've been listening to the song Heartbeats by the Knife a lot lately. So it has inspired me to post some pictures from our Sweden trip. I'd love to spend a day in Stockholm, grab a tundbrulle from a street vendor, and wander the city.

Oh perhaps I should mention that the Knife are a Swedish music group. That might help explain the connection between the two thoughts.

And another left, meet me on the corner

Trying to outrun your fear
Running to lose
Heart on your sleeve and your soul in your shoes
Take a left,
A sharp left
And another left, meet me on the corner
And we'll start, again

Badly Drawn Boy: Once Around the Block

So as I have mentioned before, it is officially Spring. The cherry blossoms are blooming all around the Capitol Building here in town and they look pretty.

So how did I spend my Saturday? I explored the back alleys of Olympia.

One is the loneliest number

One is the loneliest number that you've ever seen.

Three Dog Night: One

So this is an attempt at being witty. Piper looks lonely here, but in fact it's been a Three Dog Night in our house. We're watching Riley, my in-laws border collie who is smarter than I am.

So, Rex + Piper + Riley = 3 different dogs waking up to go outside at 3 different times in the night.

Here's a bonus photo of Riley watching The Antonio treatment on HGTV.

Don't you waste me in the ground

She says "wake up, it's no use pretending"
I'll keep stealing, breathing her.
Birds are leaving over autumn's ending
One of us will die inside these arms
Eyes wide open, naked as we came
One will spread our ashes 'round the yard

She says "If I leave before you, darling
Don't you waste me in the ground"

Iron and Wine: Naked As We Came

It's officially Spring. I mowed the lawn today and weeded. Yard work, Harumph.

To celebrate a the season here are some photos from a garden I will never have (Buchart Gardens)
