Cause I'll only ever be a middle distance runner

Well I'm so sad tonight
And the words won't come out right
It's been a long day on the track
And its stamina that I lack

So won't you run to me tonight?
Tonight we could pretend that we're just lovers
But I'll only ever be a middle distance runner

Well my heart is beating hard
And I'm off with a shot at the start
And my legs tremble from strain
But by the finish line I am drained

So won't you run to me tonight?
Tonight let's not talk about next summer
Cause I'll only ever be a middle distance runner

Sea Wolf: Middle Distance Runner

That's my nephew Parker. Cute isn't he? Look at him all full of youth and potential. Baby's are usually like that.

This weekend I was had the opportunity to reflect on some things. Questions about how things went in the past and if they could have been different. On the long drive home I realized that even had the circumstances been different, it would have turned out the same.

Sometimes knowing where you aren't supposed to be means you might just be where you are meant to be. That feels pretty good... once you get over the hangover.

It's the same on the weekends as the rest of the days

Polar opposites don't push away
It's the same on the weekends as the rest of the days
And I know I should go but I will probably stay
And that's all you can do about some things

Modest Mouse: Polar Opposites

Just some pictures from the weekend. My sister came down for the weekend so we spent some time around town. Olympia has some great shops. These are some random shots from walking around.

You know that what you eat you are,

But what is sweet now, turns so sour--
We all know Obla-Di-Bla-Da
But can you show me, where you are?.

The Beatles: Savoy Truffle

So two very unflattering photos to get one that I like (the one on top). The more I look at these the more that I realize that none of them are flattering.

PS: The Bread Peddler in Olympia is delicious.

Ice age heat wave, can't complain

If the world's at large, why should I remain?
Walked away to another plan.
Gonna find another place, maybe one I can stand.

Modest Mouse: The World at Large

Pictures from two weeks ago. I went snowshoeing with my friend Mike. We missed a turn and so a trip to Paradise Lodge at Rainier turned into a trip up Mazama Ridge. It was a beautiful day and for awhile I wished I had brought my SLR camera, but as the sun began to set and we were concentrating on hightailing it back to the car I was glad I didn't have the extra weight. The snow was very deep and we aren't the young men we used to be.

PS: I think the middle picture looks like PacMan.

Okay, this is a bit of an older one. I took it with our point and shoot when I woke up before everybody else on our Finland trip. Oh, by the way that's me (my hair is a bit longer now).

If you think that a kiss is all in the lips

The Kiss, originally uploaded by MyDogRex.
C'mon, you got it all wrong, man
And if you think that our dance was all in the hips
Oh well, then do the twist

The White Stripes: The Denial Twist

Seven years ago today, I took Meghan on our first date. It feels pretty good to say that.
